R. W. Beck Selected to Guide Planning Workshops for ComEd’s Scaled AMI Deployment

DENVER – November 19, 2008 – The Executive Director of the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) has selected Plexus Research, Inc., an R. W. Beck company, to facilitate a series of Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) workshops that will guide planning for the scaled deployment of up to 200,000 advanced meters and associated infrastructure at Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd), a unit of Chicago-based Exelon Corporation that provides service to 3.8 million customers in Chicago and Northern Illinois.

The AMI workshops will begin in early December and continue over six months to develop strategies, goals, timelines, and evaluation and technology selection criteria for the AMI pilot program. Mark Gabriel, Vice President and Principal for Plexus Research and R. W. Beck, will serve as primary workshop facilitator and will be supported by a team with AMI technology and business case expertise, and related Smart Grid and management consulting capabilities.
